Harold D. "Dick" Smith, 82, passed away Thursday, Aug. 4, 2016. Funeral: 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 11, at Wade Family Funeral Home, 4140 W. Pioneer Parkway, Arlington. Interment: Moore Memorial Gardens, Arlington. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Dick was born in Russellville, Ark., on Aug. 31, 1933, to Arvie and Ilah Mae Smith. He served four years in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. He married his high school sweetheart, Carolyn Monk, Oct. 12, 1952. He graduated from the University of Arkansas with a bachelor's degree in civil engineering and later earned a master's degree in civil engineering from the University of Texas at Arlington. Dick retired from the United States Environmental Protection Agency after many years of service. Survivors: Beloved wife, Carolyn Smith; son, Scot Smith and his wife, Diana; granddaughter, Carie Crumpton and her husband, Tim; grandson, Jeremy Smith and his fiancee, Alexandra; and great-granddaughter, Nora Crumpton.
