General Information
The Junior Rifle Club is sponsored by Haltom City Rifle & Pistol Club and affiliated with the National Rifle Association and the Civilian Marksmanship Program. Our instruction provides young shooters with the basic knowledge needed for participation in 4-position target competition using .22 caliber, single shot rifles. Our program presents shooting as a popular Olympic sport practiced all over the world. It is a sport with a rich heritage that develops control, discipline, concentration, and extreme precision. It is a sport that is open to all. Gender, size, speed, or strength does not determine success. Practice makes the difference and develops ability. Most of all it can provide a lifetime of fun and enjoyment.

Statistics compiled by the National Safety Council, National Shooting Sports Foundation, and the Civilian Marksmanship Program, confirm that rifle and target shooting are among the safest of all sports. Shooters learn safety lessons that last a lifetime.

At Haltom City Rifle & Pistol Club safety is first, last and always. We believe that safety instructions are most effective when kept simple. At HCR&PC we focus on three basic rules of safe gun handling;
a) Muzzle control, the muzzle is always pointed in a safe direction, either up or down range.
b) Open actions, all actions are open except when firing
c) Fingers off of the trigger, fingers do not touch the trigger until the shooter is aimed and ready to fire.
