Bullseye matches are held at HCR&PC only during Day Light Savings Time (April through October), each Monday evening at 6:PM. and take about an hour and a half to complete. A full Bullseye Pistol match is a 270 shot, 3 gun aggregate. The aggregates are: .22, Centerfire, and .45. Each Monday night one 90 round aggregate is shot with the caliper of the shooter's choice. Many participants only shoot .22 each week, some shooters use revolvers, and some shoot both the Centerfire and .45 aggregates with .45s. Any sight is allowed including red dot and optical scopes. The targets are huge - covering the entire black backing of the club's target frames. The challenging part is that you can only use 1 hand to support the firearm and no support of the body from the shooting bench.
This sport can be intimidating to the new shooter because of the difficulty
at hitting the 50 yard slow fire target using only one hand. Give it a try
and you will be amazed at how quickly you improve with a little trigger time
and some match experience. Any .22 pistol is plenty accurate for this game,
and will be good enough to get you started. New shooters are always
encouraged. There is always plenty of spare ammo and firearms that can be
loaned out. Informal coaching is always available before and after the
matches - all you have to do is show up and ask.
"If you are interested in participating, please come out on a Monday night and we would be delighted for you to join us."
COURSE OF FIRE
Each aggregate has 4 sub matches: Slow Fire, National Match Course, Time
Fire and Rapid Fire
Slowfire = Two 10 shot strings, 10 minutes per string at 50 yards.
NMC = One 10 shot slow fire string, two 5 shot time fire strings, and two 5
shot rapid fire strings.
Timefire = Four 5 shot strings, 20 seconds per string at 25 yards.
Rapidfire = Four 5 shot strings, 10 seconds per string at 25 yards.
Each shot is worth a maximum 10 points. A 90 shot aggregate is worth 900
points. X's are used as tie breakers (the X ring is 1.75" in diameter). No
one, anywhere, has ever shot a perfect 900 in any of the three aggregates.
Match fees are $6 each Monday. Free for first time HCR&PC members. Monthly awards are given out for highest .22 aggregate, highest Centerfire aggregate, highest .45 aggregate, highest National Match Course with any gun, highest 2700 Grand aggregate, and for most improved.
